  • Scoring system: Your lesson score appears on the display screen.
  • Voice fingering guide: If the keyboard senses you are having problems, it will help you by calling out finger numbers in a simulated human voice.

  • Audio-in jack: Connect a digital audio player, CD player, or other audio device and you can play along with music played through the keyboard's speakers.
  • Wide selection of tones (400 high-quality tones) supports play of songs from various genres.

Emergency Essentials You Should Carry In Your Car

!±8± Emergency Essentials You Should Carry In Your Car

Have you ever been driving along, minding your own business when you hit a sudden traffic jam? Maybe you have had car trouble as you are cruising down the freeway, but you are miles from an exit? Perhaps a severe storm hits and all the major routes to your destination are closed. These are scenarios that don't happen frequently, but they do happen. If something like this happens to you will you be prepared?

Emergency preparedness for travel was weighing heavy on my mind as we sat in our car, stuck in major road construction on sweltering afternoon in the desert southwest. All traffic was at a standstill for well over an hour. We didn't want to run the car for several reasons - wasting fuel and overheating the engine were two of them. Yet it was very hot and dry without a spot of shade or any options for choosing a different route. Fortunately we were on vacation so we had just got the car serviced, the tank was full of gas, and we had plenty of cold water and snacks in the cooler. But what if this had been a quick trip just to run errands or commute to work? You should be prepared at all times for emergencies, just in case.

So what should you carry in your car at all times? The list is very basic and shouldn't take up too much room. You can easily store these items in your trunk or make a small emergency kit to keep in the back seat for quick access.

Always have these items in your car:

Water - I carry a 24 pack of bottled water that I picked up at the store for less than . It is always in my car, just in case. It may not be cold, but it is still water than can be used for drinking or any other use. Blankets - Now you don't need a down filled blanket, just something simple and easy to carry. I keep two small fleece blankets in my car that I picked up for around at a discount store. They are the perfect size to keep in your car because they take up very little room. The low price makes them easy to part with if I need to use them to help at an accident scene. Flashlight and flares - Make sure you have a working flashlight in your car at all times. You never know when you might need to check under the hood at night. Flares are helpful if you are broken down on the side of the road. Putting out flares will help other cars to see you and alert them to your problem. First Aid Kit - Assemble a basic first aid kit with bandages, antibiotic ointment, pain reliever, disinfecting wipes, etc. Snacks - Keep a few non-perishable snacks in your car as well. Things like nuts, granola bars, fruit snacks, etc. Rotate them often so you will always have fresh snacks with you. Note - If you have a problem with mice getting into your car, don't keep snacks. Instead, make sure you have a small bag of snacks you can put in the car each time you leave.

In addition to keeping these items in your car, you should always make sure your car is in good working order. Make sure you have a good spare tire that is full of air in your car in addition to a jack and lug wrench. Stay on top of the maintenance schedule and always make sure you have a full tank of fuel. A wise man once told me it is just as easy to keep the tank a little above half full as it is to keep it a little above empty!

An emergency becomes far more stressful when you aren't prepared. Carrying emergency essentials in your car will give you peace of mind when you are on the road.

Emergency Shelter Tips - Water Supply

!±8± Emergency Shelter Tips - Water Supply

Storing water for emergency use is critical for people using municipal water supplies as that communal resource can be exhausted quickly during an emergency. Severe flooding, power failures, and even large fires can quickly deplete a city's water supply. Having a backup supply of water is essential.

How Not to Store Water

Many so-called survivalist experts on the internet will tell you to buy as many water bottles as you can and store them in a closet; this is no way to store water in the long term.

The problem with commercially available single use water bottles and the larger blue water cooler bottles is that those plastics have the potential to leech harmful chemicals into the water.

Commercially available disposable water bottles are not meant to be used for long term storage which is why they have expiration dates. If you do intend to store water in these types of containers be sure to follow the expiration dates carefully.

You also cannot store water in certain kinds of plastic containers, like used milk cartons, because they are not designed for this purpose and could lead to contamination.

How to Store Water

Storing water for long term use is quite simple if you take the proper steps and have the right equipment.

When you prepare your emergency water store be sure to use food-grade quality containers. You can find these containers at camping supply stores or on the internet quite easily. These are the only type of plastic containers you should use for long term storage because they are specifically designed for this purpose.

If you use municipal water that is chlorinated all you have to do is clean and sanitize your containers, fill them, and seal them; if you use well water however you will need to increase the chlorine content. The Red Cross recommends adding two-drops of non-scented bleach to water that has not been treated to ensure that bacteria cannot grow.

Things to remember

The following is list of things to remember about storing water.

The average person needs at least 3 gallons of water a day; 1 ½ for drinking and 1 ½ for sanitation and cooking. This is the minimum requirement however, prepare more if possible. Store enough water for 1 at least one week of survival for every member in your household.
Do not store water in glass containers because they are fragile and could break.
Periodically check your water supply for contamination. If you notice a stranger odor or color; be sure to discard the tainted water and replenish your supply.
Don't forget about your pets! Be sure to include water for them when you are storing water.
When an emergency starts be sure to fill all of your sinks, tubs, and other containers to supplement your emergency water rations (as long as the emergency hasn't contaminated the local water supply).
Keep your stored water out of direct sun light and in a place that does not get too hot because the heat encourages the growth of bacteria.
Be sure to keep your supplies in a place were your water won't freeze in cold weather.

Conclusion

Hopefully you will never have to use your emergency water supply but having one on hand will not only give you peace of mind but a fighting chance in the event of an emergency. For more information be sure to visit the Red Cross or the Federal Emergency Management Agency websites!

Bug Out Bag, Emergency Backpack Or 72 Hour Kit Which is Best?

!±8± Bug Out Bag, Emergency Backpack Or 72 Hour Kit Which is Best?

Bug out bag, 72 hour kit, emergency backpack... they are basically all the same thing.

Just different ways of saying it.

Don't get caught up in WHICH one you need. Instead, don't get caught unprepared by not having ANY of them.

The beauty of making your very own bug out bag is that you can put in EXACTLY what you need. And if you prefer, there are also places you can purchase them online.

Here are Some Basic MUST HAVE'S for ANY 72 hour Kit or bug out bag!

A STRONG and sturdy pack... and if you can get one, a SOLAR pack is great as you can take some emergency power with you that way to keep batteries charged in your radios, flashlights, etc.

Make sure you have a good strong survival knife....this is huge as you will not want to be caught needing a knife in a survival situation or even simple things like opening a can of food, cutting rope for a tent, ect, will become tedious without a good knife.

You will need a Basic First Aid Kit... you can make your own but just make sure there are some basic first aid supplies, such as adhesive tape, ace bandage and pain killer in your bug out bag.

Food...Ah yes, don't forget the food.... Mountain House food packs are some of the best, or some jerky that is vacuum sealed, and energy bars.

And if you plan to make a run for the woods, you will want to study up on how to survive in the backwoods as well!

In conclusion... the point of all this is that you ARE PREPARED.

Regardless what type of pack you prepare, whether it is a 72 hour kit, or a bug out bag to last for several weeks, just make sure you do NOT USE any items from your pack.

Regardless how great our intentions are, it will be very frustrating to find items missing from your bag when you need them most.
